ALLIANCE PRAYER REQUESTS
October 27, 2009

OCTOBER PRAYER FOCUS
Pray that the Holy Spirit will give Alliance people a deeper hunger for God and a heart for the lost.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST FOR THE WORLDWIDE ALLAINCE FAMILY
Pray for good health for Alliance workers (international and domestic) and church members as the H1N1 virus continues to be a concern. Pray against outbreaks in churches, schools, colleges, and retirement centers. Also, pray that ministry and travel will not be disrupted because of the virus. Pray that God will destroy the virus.

URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS
Indonesia
Pray for a complete and rapid recovery for Dave Nagel who has been diagnosed with dengue fever with a constant 103 fever.

CREATIVE-ACCESS COUNTRIES
Remember CAC workers around the world. Pray for protection, good health, and opportunities to share the good news. Pray that contacts will be drawn to Jesus. Pray that God will break down strongholds and give courage and boldness to national believers.

Alliance workers who serve at a community center request prayer as they minister to people who have lost loved ones. Pray that God will open doors to one-on-one ministry and opportunities to share Bible-based reading material.

AFRICA
FATEAC Seminary (Cote d'Ivoire)
Pray for Dr. and Mrs. Tchisingu who teach at FATEAC. Three of Mrs. Tchisingu's extended family members were killed last week in an automobile accident in Germany.

Pray for Pastor Kombila, a FATEAC student who recently lost his father. Pray that God will use these situations to build unity at FATEAC.

Thanks to all who prayed for Cindy Cook; she is feeling better.

Pray that Jeter and Laura Livingston (FATEAC missionaries) and Isaac Keita (FATEAC president) remain healthy and strong while on tour in the States.

Guinea
Continue to pray for peace in Guinea and protection for God's people. Pray for wisdom for Alliance workers to know how best to help the Guinean people during this time of crisis as well as opportunities to share the love of Jesus.

Republic of the Congo
Pray for Ruth Julian who is teaching this week at the Alliance Seminary in Boma, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Pray for good understanding and application of contextual theology.

Praise God for continuing open doors with a group of HIV positive women with whom Barb Sorensen is working. Pray for more than 60 women who heard a powerful testimony of God's grace. Pray that they will be drawn into a personal relationship with Christ.

Pray for several missionary parents as they travel back and forth this week to visit their children at school in Dakar, Senegal. Pray that they would have a good time together and that the children will continue to prosper spiritually, academically, and in every way.

Pray for Anne Stephens as she prepares to teach during the first three weeks of November at the Alliance Bible School in Pointe Noire. Pray that the students will allow the Holy Spirit to use this course, Resolving Problems, to address issues in their own lives.

Praise God for the taxi driver whom Vicki Murdock met this past weekend who was prepared by the Holy Spirit to receive Christ. Pray that his wife also will trust Christ and that they will become rooted in the faith as they are discipled by Pastor Sylvain.

Pray for God's provision so that Radio Good News in Pointe Noire will be able to pay for the installation of a taller radio tower.

Pray that the TEE (Theological Education by Extension) program in Pointe Noire will continue to take root and that the number of students discipled through these small-group studies will multiply.

Senegal
Pray for Brian and Michelle Davis as they move to their new house on Thursday. Pray for a smooth transition as they build relationships with neighbors and settle into a new neighborhood. Pray for the seeds that have been planted with neighbors in their old neighborhood to grow.

ASIA PACIFIC
Indonesia
Pray for complete healing for workers who are sick including David Nagel, field director, who is suffering from dengue fever; Anna, of Global Ventures in Bandung, who has been hospitalized with a fever; Kari Elliott; Carol Vaughn; Marie Peters; Judy Teeter; and others.

Pray that God will provide someone to care for Jordan so Dave and Marcia Nagel can attend the November 2-6 regional leadership team meeting.? ?Pray for a breakthrough in the hardened hearts of those who are part of the church split group, which has become increasingly hostile. Pray for protection of Alliance workers who have been threatened with violence.

Continue to pray for God's blessing on relief efforts by the church and mission in the earthquake-affected areas of West Sumatra and West Java.

Pray for a new kindergarten outreach being planned by Alliance workers and their national colleagues. Pray that many children and families will experience the love of Jesus through this ministry.

Praise God that the GKII (C&MA) church conference in Papua is taking place this week after being postponed because of vandalism perpetrated by the split-off group. Pray that the conference will be a blessing to the fractured church.

Pray for John and Jeanine Schultz, retired missionaries to Indonesia, as they minister this week in some of the troubled areas in Papua.

Pray for Larry and Susan Savage who will arrive in Jakarta November 8 to assist with bookkeeping in the mission office and in the guest house.

Pray for Camp Good News board members as they seek a couple to oversee the camp. This is an urgent need; Ivone Palar, the current director, is departing in early June for Makassar. Also, pray that Ivone will be able to sell her house before June.

Pray for leaders from 109 churches in East Kalimantan who committed to starting Awana clubs. Pray for them as they train leaders in their own churches. Pray for the ministry team members who are helping to oversee those churches.

Ann Grinnell requests prayer for the continued work on the youth leadership manual. Pray for inspiration and anointing in the writing and editing and that God will use it mightily among youth.

Japan
Ken and Kathy Young request prayer as they discuss the possibility of beginning a university students' ministry in Higashi Hiroshima with Rev. Tamura, the Alliance district superintendent. Pray for the Youngs as they conduct several evangelistic meetings in the region and lead evangelistic home Bible studies. Pray for eight women, none of whom are Christians, who attend Kathy's evangelistic English conversation class.

Pray for more people to devote their lives and prepare for ministry at the Japan Alliance School of Theology.

Mongolia
Continue to pray for the renewal of Dr. Pham's clinic license.

Pray for Onon as she manages the Grain of Wheat Student Center in Ulaanbaatar.

Thailand
Ed and Sue Danneker request prayer for preparations for "My Hope Thailand," an evangelistic outreach sponsored by the Billy Graham Association. The Dannekers' church will join hundreds of churches around the country to participate in this special Christmas outreach. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of those who will be invited and as well as those who will be sharing their testimonies.

Pray that God will raise up Thai leadership for the Dannekers' church.

EUROPE/MIDDLE EAST
Bosnia
Todd and Karen Dinius request prayer for patience, perseverance, and divine ability as they study the Bosnian language full-time. Pray also for opportunities to build relationships with neighbors and local merchants despite the language barrier. Pray for Todd and Karen's daughter, Bethany, who has been struggling with separation anxiety while her parents are taking classes.

France
Praise God for a very beneficial strategic field review and for the team that came to conduct the review. Pray for missionary team members as they write out their strategy as well as for meetings in December to fine tune and "own" the new strategy for the next five-year period.

Pray for Paul and Marian Keidel, field director couple, as they carry out many responsibilities. Paul is speaking at the annual gatherings of the French Alliance churches. The meeting in the north (Paris) took place October 25; the one in the south (Toulouse) will be held November 8. In addition, Paul is the speaker at the November 9-12 annual pastors' retreat. Pray for strength, health, and the ability to communicate his heart and vision to churches and leaders.

Germany
Pray for complete healing for Sarah Carey who has been ill.

Russia
Pray for Michael and Joanne Hope (Ukraine) as they turn in their visa request to the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow. Their invitation is for five years. Pray that the embassy will grant a visa for those five years. This would help the Hopes to avoid unnecessary travel. Pray for an unhindered approval process. Also, pay for the Hopes as they minister to people in rehabilitation centers.

Pray for the church plant in Inkerman, Ukraine, as it hosts a youth camp during fall break this week. Following the camp, the team plans to begin weekly meetings to introduce teens to the gospel while providing a healthy alternative to the pervasive alcohol/drug culture. At the end of November the church will assist with an AIDS awareness program. Pray that all youth who attend these outreaches will be interested in knowing more about Jesus and the spiritual freedom He offers.

Spain
Thanks to all who prayed for Martin and Joanna Chaaya. Last Tuesday morning, Joanna gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Julia Praise. Mom and daughter are both doing well.

Several Alliance workers have recently come down with the H1N1 virus. Pray for a rapid recovery without complications. Pray as well for protection and good health for all C&MA workers during the current flu season.

Pray for the field leadership team as it reviews and implements recommendations from the recent strategic field review process.
In Madrid two Alliance congregations share the same rented meeting place, which they have outgrown. Pray for God's clear leading and provision as they search for a better and larger facility within their budget constraints.

LATIN AMERICA
Regional Office
Pray for Regional Director Bill Mangham as he joins a probe team in Portugal this week to explore the possibility of a joint church-planting project with the Brazilian national church and Alliance World Fellowship churches. Pray for divine appointments, team unity, and God's leading as well as safe travel for team members coming from Brazil, Spain, and the United States.

Peru
Pray for God's grace and blessing on the San Borja Chinese Alliance Church's building project. Pray for the well-being and safety of the construction workers as well as wisdom for those overseeing the project. Also, pray for God's mighty provision in the area of finances.

UNITED STATES

Church Ministries
Pray for the district superintendents and Intercultural Association leaders as they gather for the November 14-17 Fall Leadership Conference in Colorado Springs. Pray for preparations under way for this event and that it will be one of unity, sharing, and moving forward together.

Pray for staff members of Church Ministries who have been battling illnesses and health issues in recent weeks.

Midwest District
Continue to pray for Pastor Richard Mirpuri (Word of Grace in Chicago, Illinois) who has a difficult cataract surgery scheduled for November 3 following complications from his recent eye surgeries. There is a possibility that his retina will detach again. Pray that God will restore Pastor Mirpuri's right eyesight and protect his retina from detachment. Also, pray for financial provision for mounting medical bills.

New England District
Pray for Stephanie Welty as she deals with thyroid issues as well as being dependent on dialysis treatments that make her sick most of the time.

Pray for Myron Heckman (Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church) who is battling pain and extreme weakness. He has been out of the church office for several weeks now.

Pray for Tom Flanders as he continues to feel the effects from Lyme disease. Pray for restored energy.

Pray for John Tsang's continued recovery as he is experiencing low blood pressure and slightly swollen feet.

Pray for Richard Bush as he prepares for training sessions he will be offering to his fellow superintendents at the Fall Leadership Conference. He also is in need of relief from pain apparently caused by acute inflammation of the sciatic nerve.
